AustinMann's Fox Theatre
Here are a couple of pictures of the Mann's Fox Theater in Austin Tx. The theater opened with one screen in the late 1960's with something just shy of 1000 seats. The built a 2nd theater on the other side of the building later then eventually built a wall down 1/3 over from the right wall in the first house and put in a 3rd screen.

The original screen was the only one with the 2 AA's. Later, after I had left, they installed Xenon lamp houses and shipped one of the machines. I talked to the man who was the Manager at the time. He thought that the one shipped may have gone to Detroit.

Hope you find this of some interest. I have a couple more black and white photos that I will send seperatly.

Best wishes, John Stewart

Two DP70. Opened with one screen in the late 60's with something just shy of 1000 seats. DP70 were removed in the very late 70's or early 80's.
Here is a shot of the big house before it was cloned. I suspect the picture was about 40' or more wide. I wished I had taken a shot with the curtain open as well. This was taken sometime around 1976.

1000 seats. Todd-AO installation was most likely done specifically for showing "South Pacific" in 1958. "South Pacific" ran there for about a year in Todd-AO as a roadshow engagement. "Windjammer" was also shown at this theatre. Many years later the theatre was divided into two theatres and subsequently closed. Theatre status checked November 1999 and it has now been demolished.
