Coming Home Spherical (1.85:1) NA (Canada) 6-Track Stereo United Artists US 35mm release: Feb 15.
Crossed Swords Panavision Mar 2 (USA) 6-Track Stereo Warner Bros. Screened in 70mm at Radio City Music Hall in NY. Engagement included “The Glory Of Easter” stage show.   AKA: “The Prince And The Pauper.”
Days Of Heaven Spherical (1.85:1) Sept 13 (USA) 6-Track Dolby Stereo Paramount OAR blow-up. Highly regarded as one of the finest spherical 35mm-to-70mm blow-ups.
Deer Hunter, The Panavision Dec 8 (USA) 6-Track Dolby Stereo Universal US reserved seat engagement. One-week Academy Award consideration run Dec 8-14 in Los Angeles. Returned for nationwide release on Feb 23, 1979.  Advertised in “Super 70mm 6 Track Stereo.” OAR blow-up.

Grease Panavision Aug 4 (Australia) 6-Track Dolby Stereo Paramount Initially released in the US in 35mm on June 16.  70mm prints available in the US beginning August 16.  70mm re-issue in ‘79, & 35mm-digital in ‘98.
Manitou, The Panavision April 26 (USA) 6-Track Dolby Stereo Avco Embassy Initially released as a 70mm Salt Lake City, Utah exclusive.  Nationwide 35mm release in May. 70mm print circulated to other cities (including Chicago) later in run.
Metamorphoses Panavision May 3 (USA) 6-Track Dolby Stereo Sanrio US 70mm test screening in Los Angeles on June 14, 1977. US 70mm release unconfirmed. Title is listed in the book “Wide Screen Movies.” Re-issued in ‘79/80 as “Winds Of Change.” Also see the 1979 entry for “Winds Of Change.”
Punk Rock Movie, The NA June (USA) 6-Track Stereo Cinematic US 70mm release unconfirmed. Title is listed in the book "Wide Screen Movies.’"  Photography format unconfirmed (some sources indicate Todd-AO 35, while others suggest 8mm & 16mm).
Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band Panavision July 21 (USA) 6-Track Dolby Stereo Universal Many of the early Dolby releases were released with a dual inventory (some Dolby, some non-Dolby) of 70mm prints. This was a rare example of one being advertised as such.

Star Wars (Re-Issue) Panavision July 21 (USA) 6-Track Dolby Stereo 20th Century Fox The original release never ended in some theatres, but new prints (1,756 -- a record number at the time -- including a few 70mm), posters and ad campaign were created for this successful seven-week re-issue. Some 70mm prints were re-used from original run.
Superman Panavision Dec 15 (USA) 6-Track Dolby Stereo (SS) Warner Bros. OAR blow-up. First 70mm release to feature (as a test) a discrete split surround soundtrack (Dolby Format 43).
Wiz, The Spherical (1.85:1) April 5 (UK) 6-Track Dolby Stereo Universal US 35mm release: Oct 26.
