The next meeting takes place 17 March 2007 at the Pictureville Cinema. Conference room is "On Location" on the top floor from 16:30 - 18:30. | About the 65/70mm Workshop | | The 65/70mm Workshop - Brian Guckian (left) and Ramon Lamarca Marques (right).
Essentially...the Workshop is a creative and practical project, to bring new thinking and ideas to bear on the workable re-introduction of 70mm as a commercial cinema exhibition format, and as a realistic option for Filmmakers.
We believe that creative thinking, that reaches out to all who are interested, can bring forth unexpected results and developments. Already, some very good, imaginative ideas have come our way. | | The third member of the 65/70mm Workshop is Mike Taylor.
The Workshop is further intended as an information resource, dealing with practical, technical and engineering issues relating to 70mm Exhibition and Distribution.
Our Aims are:
1. To preserve the film experience at its best, with large negative (65mm or wide horizontal 35mm) and prints on 70mm.
2. To serve as a platform and network for everybody who is interested in 65/70 production to expose their practical ideas, thoughts and solutions
3. To try and link cinematographers, producers, exhibitors and the film industry in general to drive the viability of production of films in this format
4. To promote film as an important artistic tool in the history of cinema, which can continue to be used along with other new media
5. To make possible, in a creative way, the return of the "cinema event presentation" as something unique and separate from other media
Our work is open to all, as ideas and imagination have no limits or boundaries. Our motto is: "Where There is a Will, There is a Way!"
We invite you to take part in this initiative, and warmly welcome all contributions, from whatever source.
With our thanks and best wishes
Brian Guckian
