At the time, I considered it very difficult, as it's quite challenging to find a cinema in the heart of our capital with the necessary features to accommodate a 70mm projection.

The main auditorium of the Cine Paz, despite having a relatively small capacity for this project, is viable in other aspects such as projection and sound quality, and its location. It's a landmark in Madrid today for special screenings and presentations, and MK2 was very accommodating when it came to receiving the project.
It's been three months of non-stop work, from choosing the projector and completing all the necessary equipment to inaugurating the installation. The projector is a Philips DP75 to which we've attached a GALAXY 200 lamp houe with a 5000w lamp.
In terms of installation, we had to adapt the booth, creating a special window that could accommodate both the digital and analog projections, sharing the projection axis as much as possible. We mounted the 70mm projector on rails to allow us to service both it and its companion. | More in 70mm reading:

70mm Retro - Festivals and Screenings | The subtitles are projected in DTS through the digital projector, which we masked to maintain contrast. We also added a yellow filter to the subtitle window to reduce the gray cast in the active subtitle window.
The platter is a Cinemecánica 70/35, which works flawlessly.
We fabricated the aperture plates ourselves, as we didn't have any unused ones. We are using an ISCO F 62.5mm lens. The sound system is a Trinov Ovation 2 processor with 3 on-screen channels and a 7.1 surround sound configuration with subwoofers. | | | | | | | | • Go to MK2 Cine Paz in Madrid installs 7Omm | | Go: back - top - news - back issues Updated 13-04-26 | |
