Written by: Copenhagen / Karlsruhe - in70mm.com Newswire, Thursday, Sept. 27, 22:11 Date: 27.09.2012
Paul Thomas Anderson's latest film "The Master" will be shown in 70mm at one of Europe's most prestigious 70mm film festivals, the "Todd-AO Festival" on Sunday October 7, 2012 at the Schauburg Cinerama cinema in Karlsruhe in Germany. It is a single screening of one of the most anticipated films of 2012. 5 years in the making and now finally released in the US in 70mm. It is with great pleasure that we can publish the news about "The Master" being an important part of the 8th Todd-AO Festival at the Schauburg Cinerama cinema in Karlsruhe. At the time of writing this, the 70mm print is in transit across the Atlantic ocean, and is supposed to arrive some times on Friday on the European continent.

Festival organizers Herbert Born and Thomas Hauerslev both agrees:

"This is the first screening in Europe in a commercial cinema, and we are confident the festival audience will enjoy seeing this brand-new award winning 70mm film included in the program"
.

Herbert Born, Manger of the Schauburg:

"P T Anderson is a great film maker, and I look forward to present "The Master" exactly as Paul has intended it to be seen. In 70mm and full stereophonic sound in a big cinema. "The Master" will look spectacular on our 18 Meter curved screen, and the audience will be drawn into the action and story, thanks to the large format picture quality".

Herbert Born continues:

"While a lot of cinemas are throwing away their 35mm and 70mm equipment these days, we are doing the opposite ... despite having upgraded the Schauburg to 4k digital projection earlier this year, we have also invested in a complete set of Schneider "Premiere" Premium lenses for 35mm as well as Schneider and ISCO 70mm 8-perf lenses in various focal lengths to fit every aspect ratio format. We therefore strongly believe in the future of 35mm and 70mm as the authentic medium for screenings of all movies originated on film ... wait until you see "The Master" with these new lenses in October".

Tickets for "The Master" will be available through the Schauburg's web site very soon. There has to be a change in the time schedule of the 70mm Festival and the exact time for "The Master" screening will be published on Friday October 28th, 2012.
