 I’m
a Los Angeles-based filmmaker. In 2024, I drove across the country to shoot
the last total solar eclipse over the US for the next 20 years.Join us for a screening of "Eclipse" in IMAX 70mm at AMC Lincoln Square 13 in NYC on June 17th, the largest screen in North America! "Eclipse" is the first ever film to capture a total solar eclipse in realtime without a filter on 65mm film—an achievement only possible on celluloid. Shot with two 5-perf Mitchell-Fries AP65 cameras and projected in IMAX 70mm, the film shows the full transition from partial to total eclipse and back over the course of the seven minutes from 3:27pm to 3:34pm on April 8th, 2024. The film puts the audience inside a moment most people are lucky to experience once in a lifetime, projected in the highest quality format on earth. Following the screening, Director and Cinematographer Gus Bendinelli will be giving a presentation about the making of the film, including how the one-of-a-kind camera system was assembled, how the footage was captured without melting the film negative, and a behind-the-scenes look at the journey to cross the country and find clear skies in time for this once-in-a-lifetime event.
