The Saturn electronics store on Tauentzienstraße 9 in the Berlin's Europa Center has exhibited an authentic Todd-AO DP70 70mm projector in their department of Hi-Fi and electronics.

Fortunately, I've a day off today, so I've been there and enjoyed the award winning Philips DP70 projector, which is even loaded with a reel of 70mm film.

The machine can be seen on the third floor in the Megastore's HiFi department.

The DP70 serial number plate. This is machine #1870 from the former "CITY" cinema in Europacenter.

A friendly shop assistant told me that this is one of the projectors of the former Berlin
Royal Palast cinema which was demolished in spring/summer 2006 in order to make room for the new Saturn "Flagship-Store" electronics store, which opened in the summer of 2007 in Tauentzienstraße. The JBL loudspeakers behind the DP70 is also from the demolished Royal Palast.

The DP70 with a roll of 70mm film - but which title?

August 2016 Update:

... the riddle is solved regarding the film title on the reel. Surprisingly, it is a really rare 70mm clip from the movie "Sheherazade" (France, Italy, Spain, 1963)

Hi Thomas,

l think the reel of 70mm on the DP70 is from "EL CID" (1961)
