Not a peep about Ultra Panavision.Click to see a large version. “The roadshow version has an overture and an intermission, and it will be three hours, two minutes,” Tarantino told Variety. “The multiplex version is about six minutes shorter, not counting the intermission time, which is about 12 minutes.” “The 70 is the 70,” he said. “You’ve paid the money. You’ve bought your ticket. So you’re there. I’ve got you. But I actually changed the cutting slightly for a couple of the multiplex scenes because it’s not that. Now it’s on Showtime Extreme. You’re watching it on TV and you just kind of want to watch a movie on your couch. Or you’re at Hot Dog on a Stick and you just want to catch a movie.” The sequences in question play in “big, long, cool, unblinking takes” in the 70mm version, Tarantino said. “It was awesome in the bigness of 70, but sitting on your couch, maybe it’s not so awesome. So I cut it up a little bit. It’s a little less precious about itself.” |

a tough job making 65mm film in a snow storm, BUT SOMEBODY HAS TO DO IT!November 2015 It has been made official, Chicago and its outlying areas are getting 70mm prints of Quentin Tarantino's latest. This was confirmed by Julian Antos of the Northwest Chicago Film Society, and an article in the Chicago Tribune. This is truly something special. Not only will this be my first 70mm experience outside of IMAX, but my first Ultra-Panavision experience as well. For my 73 year old dad, this will be his first UP presentation since Khartoum. Tamir Sharif, Chicago 03.12.2015 Hi Melissa, This evening I was wondering if "The Hateful Eight" was showing anywhere in the Netherlands. After a quick Google search I found the 70mm showings map on in70mm.com (which is, according to the website, edited by you). I checked to see if it included any showings in the Netherlands, which it unfortunately did not. I knew for a fact that the EYE institute of film in Amsterdam have a 70mm projector in use, so I checked their website, but again, no sign of "The Hateful Eight". So I decided to call them, and they were able to confirm that they will in fact be showing the film in 70mm. They couldn't provide any dates however because they were still in the process of planning. Anyway, I thought you'd want to know this so you can add it to your map.
