enlargementIn the attached page, you'll see the L.A. newspaper ads from last Tuesday (September 18, 2012) for the two locations running "The Master" with 70mm prints. There is one 70mm print at The Landmark location, and there are two 70mm prints at what Pacific is now calling the "Dome Entertainment Center", basically meaning the Cinerama Dome + the Arclight [14] cinemas. You'll see that at least Landmark Theatres tells you which screen (and showtimes) are being presented in 70mm. But Pacific ...? What's with them? And, by the way -- it's not an error. The same "mysterious" lack of information has been printed every day this week, including today (Thursday). Weird, huh? This all may change tomorrow (Friday, September 21), when the movie expands to several other locations (all to be in 35mm or digital -- no more 70s). Maybe the ads will once again be more specific. Almost certainly over the weekend they will. But after that... who knows. I wonder if it's because Pacific is definitely not thrilled about having to deal with film again, whether it's 35 or 70, or ... trying to look at it more positively, maybe they think that people who come to see the movie during the week are only interested in seeing "the movie", and these potential moviegoers don't care/aren't aware of the nuances in projection ... and they [Pacific] just want them to "shut up and buy a ticket".
