Back in the fifties I was a projectionist involved in the installation of two Mechs (Philips DP70s) re-equipping the Olympia in Cardiff [UK]. I then went on to use these machines to show various 70mm movies. Of course the 30fps “Oklahoma” was the first and definitely the best. Over the years I have striven to find a better projected picture but sadly failed. Even IMAX in my opinion is not better, and this new IMAX experience now being shown by “Odeon“ has no comparison at all. So, please do all you can to bring back 70mm with its attendant arc lamps to enable 70mm to be shown in all its glory. Mike Williams |
