received a Royal Première in 70mm at the
Odeon
Leicester Square, comes "Death
on the Nile" in 70mm.
That this format still reigns supreme as the cinematic monarch of all it
surveys, the state of the art of the moving image, is demonstrated beyond a
reasonable doubt, by Actor/Director Kenneth Brannagh, Haris Zambarloukos,
Director of Photography and Michael Mannix and Gordon Elliot, the projection
team at the Odeon Leicester Square.
Cinema can confidently hold its head up amongst all other visual media, with
the power and the beauty of the images it reveals, on the big screen. With
this masterpiece, Zambarloukos has joined the ranks of the greatest masters
of Light and Composition - Freddie Young, Jack Cardiff, Stanley Kubrick,
Vitorio Storaro and Seamus McGarvey.
Kenneth Brannagh has now starred in and presented three great 70mm
masterpieces, in this the latest, he gives a tremendous bravura performance
as the legendary detective Hercule Poirot. Well supported by a strong cast,
principally Russell Brand, Tom Bateman, Annette Bening, Dawn French and
Jennifer Saunders, this is ensemble playing of a high order.
The atmosphere of growing unease, as the imagery becomes more and more
ravishingly beautiful, elevates
