Some sad news to report...Jon Reistad, the boy sailor-trainee who 'dances with the mop' in "Windjammer: The Voyage of the Christan Radich" (1958), passed away on Nov. 28, 2013. Jon was just 16 years old when chosen to appear in the film by producer Louis de Rochemont. On May 2, 2010, Jon attended the Norwegian digital re-premiere of the film when it screened at the Norwegian Film Institiute's Cineteket in Oslo. He subsequently was interviewed in the "The Windjammer Voyage: A Cinemiracle Adventure", which was released on the feature's DVD in 2012. After the filming of "Windjammer" was completed, Jon never become an actor or a sailor. He operated a gas station in Loten, Norway, for many years. He is survived by 3 adult children; Martin, Helge Arne and Colett.
