The following is a reference / historical listing of the 70-millimeter presentation of Disney’s “Mulan” in North America.
“Mulan,” a one-off 70mm event, was directed by Barry Cook and Tony Bancroft (“Beauty and the Beast”) and featured the voice talents of Ming-Na Wen, Eddie Murphy, BD Wong, Miguel Ferrer, June Foray, James Hong, Pat Morita and George Takei.
The 70mm print of “Mulan” featured pillarboxed imagery (approximately 1.85:1) blown up from spherical 35mm. The audio was interlocked with the magnetic printmaster. DTS timecode was applied on Reel 5 to use the DTS process to synchronize some fireworks at the end of the film presentation.
A 70mm coming-attraction trailer for “The Parent Trap” was included in the presentation.

Additional 70mm prints of “Mulan” were on site at the GCC Galaxy 6, located one mile away, as a precautionary back-up.
“Mulan” was released throughout the United States and Canada in 35mm with digital sound on June 19th.
