 The following is a reference / historical listing of the 70-millimeter restoration re-issue presentations of “Vertigo” in North America. The Universal release was directed by Alfred Hitchcock (“North by Northwest,” “Psycho”) and starred James Stewart, Kim Novak and Barbara Bel Geddes. The VistaVision production was originally released in 1958 in 35mm with monaural audio. The “Super VistaVision” restoration was produced by Robert A. Harris and James C Katz. The 70mm re-issue prints of “Vertigo” featured remastered DTS audio and pillarboxed imagery (approximately 1.85:1) sourced from VistaVision Large Aperture. Universal circulated 70mm-DTS coming-attraction trailers for “Daylight,” “Dante’s Peak,” “Fierce Creatures” and “Liar Liar” during the re-release of “Vertigo.” Other studios circulated 70mm trailers during this period, as well. Ultimately, any 70mm trailers screened during 70mm presentations of “Vertigo” varied by venue and screening.
